Lenka at Student Cooperator Meet 2007

Lenka participated in the Work & Travel USA program in 2006, 2007, 2008 and now in 2009 is participating again.

Besides, she worked in England and spent this winter worktraveling in New Zealand. She’s been serving as our Student Cooperator for 4 years.

Lenka’s tips show that she is indeed very experienced. Highly recommended!!

People who coming to USA for work and travel program are mostly worried about money. Most of them need to give some money back to their parents or banks. The first thing what are you thinking about when you come is: How to get more money, hours, jobs…

There is several ways. You should talk to some people ( as many as you can ) Maybe they will know about any place where they need help.

What I suggest is – take a really long walk through all the city and fill out the applications in every single shop, restaurant, company – whatever you can find. Don’t be shy and give it a try.

I also suggest to try power of Internet – google or some special pages with summer or other jobs (there is many of them). Or some company which can find job for you.

After you applied for a job try to stay in touch. Call or come every week and keep asking for any position. Usually it takes like week or two to get a job.

But the most important thing is – RELAX! Don’t panic, don’t be depressed. You will find your job. This is just another experience which you may need it. I wish you luck and don’t forget to enjoy summer in USA cause that’s the reason why you came to USA, isn’t it?

Any question? I’ll be happy to help. I’ve already been through this for four times in America, and also in England  and New Zealand and it’s always the some. Just take it easy and enjoy the summer 2009!
