Description of Business: This resort is a well established, family owned and operated business where you will always find a warm, friendly atmosphere. The resort offers comfortable lodging in cabins or motel rooms, home-style cooking in the restaurant, and a place to relax and socialize in an on-site bar.

Description of Area: This resort is located at the Lake Superior in Michigan. You will have access to plenty of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, and other water related activities. You will also be fairly close to Canada.

Job Details

Work Description: Your responsibilities as a housekeeper will include all and any of the following: cleaning rooms; vacuuming, changing linens and towels, making beds, doing laundry, cleaning bathrooms etc.). You may also be asked to assist with other aspects of running this resort (such as general maintenance, general kitchen help, dishwashing, and waitstaff) at your employer’s request. It is your obligation to remain flexible and hardworking as an InterExchange participant and an employee of this resort.

Salary and Bonuses: $7.45 per hour, $11.18 per hour after an average of 40 hours per week

Work Hours: 6 hours per day, 6 days per week. Some days you may be working 8 hours or more.

Accommodation Cost: $25.00 per week

Accommodation Description: You will be living in an on-site cabin with up to 3 people in each cabin. The cabin has a stove and a refrigerator. Linens will be provided. 1 meal per work day will be provided for you. You will also have access to laundry machines.

Standard requirements for the Work Travel USA program sponsored by InterExchange, Inc. are:

  • Conversational English
  • Minimum placement duration 12 weeks (or for summer, until Labor Day, whichever is longer)
  • Minimum placement is 2.5 months in national parks

Uniform/Dress Code: Your employer will provide you with a company shirt. In addition, you will need to wear black or khaki (tan) pants, which you must provide yourself. In general, you should always maintain a neat and clean appearance. Long hair should be tied back, and tattoos should not be visible. While working, you will be asked to remove all body and facial piercings (ears are okay), and refrain from unconventional hair styles and colors.
