Jobs & Placements

  • This section lists businesses in which exchange program participants previously worked.
  • The purpose is to give you a better idea what sort of work and conditions you should expect.
  • You can not apply for these jobs because they may or may not be available again.
  • But feel free to quote one to indicate your preference, if your chosen program allows that.

Are you thinking about joining a Work Travel, Work Study or a Work Experience program? Do you wonder “in what sort of job may I end up being placed?” Perusing over a hundred  previous placement descriptions in this section will give you a very good idea what to expect from your program abroad.

DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS
The descriptions don’t show just the jobs and wages, but also accommodation arrangements and cost, and often the employer’s special requirements, such as what clothes you should bring.

AREA PICTURES
Most of the descriptions contain also links to Panoramio images, which allow you to see how a given area looks like. A few of the descriptions include photo galleries sent by students who worked there.

CAN I CHOOSE WHICH ONE I WANT?
Yes, yes, we know that this is your most pressing question. But sadly, the answer is no. Why? Because your dream employer may not cooperate with the program anymore, may not need any students lately, and even if he does, he may not want you.

INDICATE A PREFERENCE
What most programs do is to let you indicate a preference for a type of establishment and a region. This is like saying ”I’d love to be work in a job similar to this one, if possible, but I absolutely understand that it may not happen and I am perfectly OK with being placed elsewhere”.

GET HELP
You will see in your program application whether or not your chosen program allows you to even express a preference. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you can’t find the field in the application form where your preference could be entered.

Share your information: Most program sponsors do not share students’ placement details with us. It’s often the students who tell us about their placement. So share your placement details with us, so that we can share it with those who come after you. Write us at [email protected]

    Hi Ondra,

I am wondering If these jobs and placements are still available or If you are gonna add new ones.

    Thanks Honza

Hi Honza. Great to hear from you, hope you’re enjoying Spain! In fact, we are going to write you shortly ;-) The purpose of this list is to show what kind of placement can students expect. The program sponsors are not job agencies. That’s a perpetual misunderstanding. They don’t recruit students for jobs they have. The seek jobs for students they have! So any newly available job is the one that you get in your job placement, that’s the job the sponsor managed to find you. But once again, this list gives you an idea what job you can expect the sponsors to find you.

Hi I’m curious to know more about employment in Yellowstone, I am currently already in the USA with my j1 visa how could you help me out?

    • admin says:

Hi Nicole, sadly, we can’t. Yellowstone usually hires for the summer in December and in the past two years, they were done hiring in mid-January. Even students who were there before couldn’t go again unless they applied, paid in full and were interviewed by about mid-December. Yellowstone is absolutely wonderful place, not just in terms of the natural beauty, but also as a place to work in summer, as hundreds of international and American students work there. It’s like a huge summer camp for “big kids” :-) We love the place and love to visit our students there during the summer. But you have to contact us in about mid-October to be sure that everything is done in time for the summer 2012. BTW, which country you are from and where are you in the USA right now? It is this program for Yellowstone: http://www.apex-foundation.org/work-and-travel-usa-iexwtfs/

  9. Mavish says:

Hi My name is Mavish Tariq I am a first year university student from University of Central Lancashire, Preston, England. I study International tourism management, I have recently started looking around for placements for my third year, I hope to conduct my placement year in a hotel abroad preferably somewhere in the U.S as this would open a lot of doors for me in my future as I hope to get into hotel management. So I was really hoping if you could take some time to tell me about the internship program you have to offer, I read over the information you have on the site and it is exactly what I’m looking for in my placement year. I would really like more information on what you have to offer and the procedure I would have to go through.

Questions? Ask below :-) In English, please.
