Jobs & Placements
- This section lists businesses in which exchange program participants previously worked.
- The purpose is to give you a better idea what sort of work and conditions you should expect.
- You can not apply for these jobs because they may or may not be available again.
- But feel free to quote one to indicate your preference, if your chosen program allows that.
Are you thinking about joining a Work Travel, Work Study or a Work Experience program? Do you wonder “in what sort of job may I end up being placed?” Perusing over a hundred previous placement descriptions in this section will give you a very good idea what to expect from your program abroad.
The descriptions don’t show just the jobs and wages, but also accommodation arrangements and cost, and often the employer’s special requirements, such as what clothes you should bring.
Most of the descriptions contain also links to Panoramio images, which allow you to see how a given area looks like. A few of the descriptions include photo galleries sent by students who worked there.
CAN I CHOOSE WHICH ONE I WANT?
Yes, yes, we know that this is your most pressing question. But sadly, the answer is no. Why? Because your dream employer may not cooperate with the program anymore, may not need any students lately, and even if he does, he may not want you.
INDICATE A PREFERENCE
What most programs do is to let you indicate a preference for a type of establishment and a region. This is like saying “I’d love to be work in a job similar to this one, if possible, but I absolutely understand that it may not happen and I am perfectly OK with being placed elsewhere”.
You will see in your program application whether or not your chosen program allows you to even express a preference. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you can’t find the field in the application form where your preference could be entered.
Share your information: Most program sponsors do not share students’ placement details with us. It’s often the students who tell us about their placement. So share your placement details with us, so that we can share it with those who come after you.
