Pre-departure Orientation

Since the beginning of APEX Foundation, we used to do in-person Orientations for departing participants. Complete with former participants showing their pictures and sharing their experience, visa help, and sometimes even with guests from the embassies.

But since the begining, we were also hearing constant stream of complaints: “I have to travel 6 hours by train each way to attend”, “I don’t have time during the week” or “You are ruining my weekend”, “The date is bad, I have a tough exam two days later”,  “Why it’s not online, or something”.

OK, we said, it’s this brave new Internet age, so indeed, why don’t we do it online?! With a quiz where participants would confirm that they understand everything by answering various questions.

Interestingly, a few people complained too. “We are paying all this money and we won’t even get live Orientation?”

Obviously, there will always be people who will prefer one way of doing it, or the other. But how many would prefer which? Knowing this would help us do it the way majority of you prefer.

Do you prefer traveling to a live Orientation? Do you prefer doing it online? Would perhaps group-chat be ideal?
