Description of Area: You can stay 4 months in a nature lover’s paradise. Wake up every morning to the smell of fresh mountain air in a location that many only dream of visiting. The Smoky Mountains offer beautiful drives, hikes, horseback riding, amusement parks, casino and museums. You can take a scenic train ride, visit the tallest dam in the Eastern US or even raft the Nantahala River. You can enjoy a cultural experience, shopping or head over the mountain for a day trip to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge for amusement parks, helicopter rides, museums and many other tourist attractions.

Travel Time to the job site, example: Take the Greyhound Bus from Atlanta International Airport to Waynesville, North Carolina and your employer will pick you up.

Job Details

Work Description: We have positions for cooks, servers and counter help. We try to place students in a position that best fits their needs and ours. It has been our experience that it is better to wait until a student arrives and determine at that time which position best suits the student. Job interest, previous work experiences and language skills are indicators as to where the student will be most happy and productive. Quite often we like to assign a student to two different areas so there is variety to their work experience. If, however, a student indicates a preference, we certainly will try to accommodate his or her wishes.

Salary and Bonuses: The average rate is currently $7.25 per hour. There will be overtime pay after 40 hours worked per location within a seven day work week. It will be paid at 1,5 times regular pay rate per hour.

Work Hours: A work week will average 6-10 hours per day. At least one day per every seven days will be a day-off. An average high-season work week will be between 35-45 hours. Occasionally there may be opportunity for work in addition to these hours, when there is a demand for it because of increased business.

NOTE: Students must have excellent English speaking and understanding skills. Our students work directly with customers and must be able to communicate fluently with them.

NOTE: One meal per shift is allowed each day for the cost of $2.00.

Housing

Accommodation Cost: The minimum cost is $720.00 for twelve weeks or less and $60.00 for each additional week. This cost will be deducted from your paycheck or your tip money. There will be no refund for housing – even if you leave early.

Accommodation Description: 3 housing units with dormitory type housing. All students will be required to live in this housing. The units have access to a full kitchen, cable TV, E-mail, and laundry facilities on site. There is no housing available for couples wanting to live together.

Security deposit: There is a housing deposit of $100.00, to be refunded if facilities are well-maintained and not damaged.

Requirements

Requirements: Conversational English, able to understand and follow instructions, attention to detail, motivated by guest satisfaction.

Uniform/Dress Code: Bring two or more black cotton or black cotton-blend trousers – not jeans (full-length pants – no shorts), to be worn with company’s shirts. Shirts and other uniform accessories, if needed, can be purchased after arrival. Bring enough clothing so that you can shower and change clothing each day. A shirt should be worn for one day only, and trousers should be worn for no more than two days, before laundering. You are expected to take a daily full shower or bath, be clean-shaven, and use deodorant as needed, before you report for work each day. At work, we do not permit wearing face or tongue-piercing jewelry.
