Description of Business: It is one of New England’s finest and largest marina resorts. You will find here a hotel, restaurant, bars, tennis courts, pool and marina, with all the amenities. It’s a complete family resort experience.

Description of Area: Rhode Island is truly nature’s treasure on the sea, offering an unspoiled rural setting where a visitor can feel like they have stepped back to a gentle, quieter time. The island offers a rich history, miles of sandy beaches and wealth of activities including fishing, boating, biking, swimming, walking and some of the best bird watching in the country.

Job Details

Work Description: You will be placed in a position based upon your employer’s needs at the time of your arrival. You could be working in any, or all, of the following positions: sales, bakery, kitchen help (may include preparing and serving food at the snack bar, cleaning, mopping floors, taking out the garbage), housekeeping, laundry, ice cream scooper, snack bar attendant or cashier.

Salary and Bonuses: $7.40 per hour + tips

Work Hours: about 44 hours per week

Accommodation Cost: $50.00 per week

Accommodation Description: Housing will cost $50.00 per week. Students live in basic dormitory style rooms at the marina and you should expect to share a room with other students. The dorm rooms have bunk beds and basic furniture. Depending on the size of the room, there may be between 3-5 other students. There is no kitchen access or cooking allowed in the housing. You will be responsible for your own meals.

Standard requirements for the Work Travel USA program sponsored by InterExchange, Inc. are:

  • Conversational English
  • Minimum placement duration 12 weeks (or for summer, until Labor Day, whichever is longer)
  • Minimum placement is 2.5 months in national parks

Uniform/Dress Code: A uniform shirt and name tag will be provided. You should always maintain a neat and clean appearance on the job. You should bring khaki shorts (no jeans) and safe, non-skid soled, shoes. Clean looking sneakers are find as long as they provide traction. No open toed shoes are allowed. If hair is long, it must be pulled back and all body piercing must be removed for work. Males, hair should not be longer than collar length.
