Overview

Description of Business: The Lodge is a four stars hotel in the North Cascade Mountains in the state of Washington. It’s about 200 miles north-east from Seattle, near Canadian border. The hotel hires university/college students from around the world, so there’s always nice “global” crowd. The best thing was that the employer lent us a car this year. We did not have to ask somebody to drive us home from the work or shopping when we had day off. We could go anywhere we wanted :-)

Description of Area: The Lodge is just a few miles from North Cascade National Park which is great place for many kind of outdoors activities. North Cascade National Park is about 200 miles eastern of Seattle.

Travel Time to the job site, example: 6 hours from New York by plane to Seattle.  Than 4 more hour by car. The employer picked up us at the airport in Seattle. Cost $200.00.

  1. Veronika says:

Hi, I am working with Leona in this hotel and I just want to add that the hotel provides many kind of outdoor activites, horseback riding, cycling, playing tenis and so on, which we can do for free. The hotel has private beach at the lake where is boat rental and it is also free for us. So everytime there is something to do :-)

    • Mariner says:

Veronica, does one need some kind of a license to ride the boat? I’d love to try it, but I only have Croatian boat operator licence. Could I ride the boats?

      • Veronika says:

You do not need any licence. That is not a motor boat or yacht rental, they have just canoes, kayaks or pedalboats. But still it is fun :-)

  2. Michelle says:

Hi, can you tell me, what kind of internet access do you have? I mean in USA, of course…
    Thanks, Michelle.

  3. Kathy says:

Hi Leona. What happens if I have a problem in this job? Will you get me another? Or will somebody else? Thank you.

    • Leona says:

Hi Kathy. NO, I am not a job agency. I just was there twice together with my friends and everything was great. I can help you get the job and I am not expecting anything for it. And also you can’t expect that I will looking for another job for you if you lose this one. The other thing is that you are applying for Self Arange program and you should be prepared to solve everything yourself. If you are not sure about that I would recommand you to apply for Full Service program.

  4. Mirek, says:

    Hi Leono,
I am former participant of Apex.
I had spent three seasons in YNP, unfortunately for this summer i have not been accepted.
Last year i visited many beautiful places in Washington state and right now, when i am reading your offer, thats sounds great. I hope it is not late to interested in this job.
Would you give me some basic informations, how to contact this hotel company or something simillar.
    Thanks
    M

    • Leona says:

      Hi Mirek,
I am so sorry, but there is no more place in this hotel for this summer. I understand, you need job placement for summer 2010 but the only thing I can do for you is that I can try hold the place for you for summer 2011, if the employer will need international students (I guess they will). So if you are going to go to the U.S. next year, just let me know.
      Leona

  5. Petra says:

Hi M, thank you for contacting us here on our web sites. As I already mentioned in reply to your e-mail, I am afraid that Leona has no more free places, because she is taking all her friends with her this summer. Anyway, let her reply to you herself :-)
How about changing your application to the full-service one and let the program sponsor arrange your job placement for you? Petra

  6. Jesse says:
