Description of Business: This sweet shop is a fun family orientated place. The shop considers itself to be a fun upbeat establishment and is located in the very center of town. They make their own chocolates and candies daily as well as most of the ice cream and bakery goods. There is also a very busy espresso stand so any experience as a barist would be very helpful but training will also be available. There is also a miniature golf course at the establishment. At times things can get extremely busy so being a fast learner and quick on your feet will be important.

Description of Area: It is located about 3.5 hours of Seattle, on the Methow River in the Cascade Mountain range. There are many restaurants, shops, museums and outdoor mountain activities to enjoy.

Travel Time to the job site, example: 7 hours from New York by plane. Cost $300.00.

Job Details

Work Description: You will be working in a candy, ice cream, and espresso shop. Duties will include helping to assist customers, serving candy, ice cream, espresso, and other goods, working the cash register, answering the phone, and possibly helping to make the candies and ice cream (you will be trained). You also may be asked to assist with general cleanup of the shop. You will be mainly working outside.

Salary and Bonuses: $8.55 per hour + tips

Work Hours: 8-10 hours per day

Accommodation Cost: $100.00 per week

Accommodation Description: You will be living about 2 blocks from the shop, and each student will have a private bedroom and share bathroom, kitchen and living areas. You will have to pay extra for cable TV. Meals will be provided for a cost of between $10.00 and $14.00. You will have access to the internet.

Security deposit: You will be required to pay a $100.00 housing deposit upon arrival.

Standard requirements for the Work Travel USA program sponsored by InterExchange, Inc. are:

  • Conversational English
  • Minimum placement duration 12 weeks (or for summer, until Labor Day, whichever is longer)
  • Minimum placement is 2.5 months in national parks

Uniform/Dress Code: Please maintain a neat and clean appearance. No excessive tattoos or face piercings during work hours. Jeans or shorts are okay, but jeans should not be ripped and shorts should be knee length . No tank tops or muscle shirts are permitted. You should wear comfortable, close-toed shoes while working. No sandals are allowed during work hours. Long hair should be tied back.
