Work on a historic American steamboat in upstate New York

Lake George, NYJob Title: Where Needed.

Work Description: You will be working on a tourist boat on a very calm lake – please be flexible as you may be asked to perform many different tasks as part of your job. You will be assigned a position when you arrive dependent upon your employer’s needs at the time. Most of the positions available are as bus people/runners and servers. Bus people bring food from the Galley to buffet lines, take empty pans back to the galley, take dirty dishes from the pantry to the galley and bring clean dishes back to serving areas. Servers seat customers, instruct on buffet procedures, take beverage orders, remove dirty dishes, serve dessert, clean and reset tables for the next function. You may also work as a food prep working in the kitchen. You are entitled to a free meal during your work break.

Uniform/Dress Code: Employees should be well groomed. It is important that you maintain a neat and clean appearance at all times because you are a reflection of the company. No tattoos, body/facial piercing, or dyed hair is acceptable. A uniform will be required. Please bring black pants/skirts, black shoes, and a white button down collar shirt.

Salary Per Hour: Bus people earn $5.25 per hour plus tips. Food Preparation workers earn $7.50 per hour.

Work Hours: You should expect to work between 35-40 hours per week.

Accommodation Cost: 75

Accommodation Description: You will be living at a motel in where arrangements have been made so that you can pay $75-$100 per week. There will be lots of other international students staying here. You should expect to share a room with 2-4 other people. You will have to walk or buy a bicycle which you can sell back before you leave. You will have some meals available when you are working. You will be responsible for buying your own food most of the time.

Travel Time From NYC to Job Site: 5 hrs

Approximate Travel Cost: $50

Description of Business: The company has been in operation since 1817. It offers a variety of Cruises on their 3 large cruise ships. From 1 hour cruises to the only complete tour of historic and scenic Queen of American Lakes. The company also owns and operates a restaurant and marina. You should be prepared to work at either property.

Description of Area: The lake is located in beautiful upstate New York. It is a tourist community that offers plenty to do including swimming, hiking, boating, dining out, and other fun social activities.
